Adding in text as an example. A counselling session is for 50 minutes, ideally each week, but we can discuss what is right for you based on your budget and personal commitments. The sessions will normally run at the same day and time each week to help plan them into your week. In the session, the time is just for you and you may find this helpful in itself. You’ll be able to explore your thoughts and emotions freely in a confidential, safe and non-judgemental space.
About me
I grew up in the Midlands and after leaving University, I headed south and moved to Bournemouth as I really enjoy the coastal and beach areas. I have worked for a number of years in the financial services, HR and recruitment industries with experience managing people and projects or creating and driving change. During my recruitment career, I become curious about how people achieve their potential in and outside of their work environment and what limits people at times. This led me to start training as a counsellor in September 2017 as I started to seek my own career change.
About My experience
Since February 2019, I have been counselling clients providing either short term or long-term support through local charities – The Dorchester Trust for Counselling and Psychotherapy and Cruse Bereavement. I also work part-time across a number of GP surgeries in Poole providing short term self-guided CBT type support to NHS patients on anxiety, anger, stress, depression, self-esteem and grief.
Areas of support
I’m able to support most areas which include aspects such as bereavement, loss and grief, anxiety, depression, stress, anger management, trauma, self-esteem, relationships, loneliness, communication, assertiveness, employment matters such as redundancy, career changes, job seeking, financial concerns, eating disorders, self-harm.
Limits of support
I’m unable to provide support around alcohol or drug addiction, working with under 18’s or complex trauma such as rape. However, I would be happy to provide you with the names of relevant organisations that may be able to support you.
helping me to help myself
“You show an interest in helping me to help myself, you believe in me on days when I don’t. You’re friendly, kind, honest and truthful. You’ve sat by me when I wanted to run away. Thanks for helping me explore myself and for how far I’ve come to love myself today.'”

at ease, supportive, improving confidence and well-being
“I had concerns before starting counselling that I would struggle to be open and talk honestly, but Cathy has been amazing at making me feel at ease. I have taken so much from our sessions. Cathy has been so supportive in helping me to address difficult feelings, and the process has significantly improved my overall confidence and general well-being.”
